NEW! Freight Train (demo) - A demo of a new song that will be on my next record. Recorded in Houston with Josh Moore. We were fiddling with arrangement ideas with some string and woodwind sounds. After making this demo we realized that there needs to be more individual textures as opposed to an ensemble feel for the orchestral elements so we moved on to a different take. I wrote this for Kierstin about us getting engaged in New Orleans. Love changes everything.

More Than The Watchman (previously unreleased demo) - This is a recording of one of my oldest songs. I wrote this when I was still in college for a history class that focused on the Psalms. My friend Josh Moore and I recorded this demo about three years ago and it's been unreleased until now. My buddy Dave Schober mixed it for me. It was originally intended to be on The Innocence Fires, and I may put it on one of my future records someday but here it is for now.

Release Me (demo) - This is a pop song I wrote a few years back. I recorded it with Josh Moore (who produced and helped co-write it) and my friend David Schober mixed it. Even though this is a demo, the production is really going for it. We actually ended up using some of the demo tracks on the final version for "The Innocence Fires" but the album was never released. I have mixed feelings about this song....I love it and hate it at the same time. I've played it in concert and people seem to dig it, but I've never felt very connected to it. It's a well written song though...a lot of energy in there. I am not planning to put it on any of my albums, so I thought I'd share it here. Hope you enjoy!

Dust To Glory (strings and vocals only mix) - Dug this out of the iTunes archives...this is Jim Dineen's rough mix of the song with everything muted but the strings and vocal. You can hear the reverb from the piano towards the beginning, but everything else is just bare bones. Stark contrast to the version on 10,000 Angels. This almost sounds celtic to my ears...(cue Braveheart soundtrack here...)

You Whisper Something - I wrote this one with Phil Keaggy for the Glass Harp album. We had so much fun recording this in his basement with just our acoustic guitars and voices. It has that Beatles-Rubber Soul feel to it. Our voices weave in and out of each other in the harmonies on this track. When we were recording this, I remember Phil giving it everything he had on the bridge...just totally going for it. I learned a lot that day, as I always do from Phil.
